The Fourth of July, Charleston Style

Posted on | July 9, 2008 | No Comments

We had a great 4th of July!  The weather was beautiful and we went to the beach with family early that morning.  We have the “4th of July Beach Evolution” down pat.  You have to get there around 9:00 or 9:30, and get a good parking spot, and a good spot for all your stuff.  Then, you play and have lunch on the beach.  By around 1:00, everyone is ready to leave.  When you leave, you are are going to opposite direction of all the traffic heading to the beach, and you are leaving too early for the traffic leaving the beach.  It’s perfect.

So, we did that, then we went home and took a nap.  Then, we went to my friend’s house on Sullivan’s Island where we visited for a while, and then we walked down to the park, where they do a great fireworks display.  We sat in the parking lot of the Fire Department (right next to the park) and watched the fireworks, which were incredible as always.  We ran into some good old friends and sat with them.

After fireworks, we went to Off the Hook with some friends and people watched for a while.  Off the Hook seems to also now be called Seels Fish Camp, which I am a little confused about.  Maybe they kept the bar one thing and changed the restaurant to something else?  Anyway, it was a fun and relaxing 4th of July, which I greatly enjoyed.
