State of the Local Real Estate Market

I constantly get asked by people how the Charleston real estate market is. I’ve gotten to the point that I don’t really know how to respond. I’m really busy, and I have a lot of work, and I have closings. But then I see all the dismal news and hear a lot of other agents doing nothing but complain about the market. So, I hesitate to say the market is fine simply because I’m busy.
I think maybe the market is not great, but transactions are still occurring, and I am getting a fair amount of the transaction that ARE taking place. I heard an interesting statistic the other day; 66% of realtors in the Charleston MLS have not had a single closing this year!! The top 3% (or maybe it was 2%) have had over 5 closings this year. So, it’s pretty cool to be able to say I’m in the top 3% (2%?) of the real estate agents in Charleston, SC.

I like your page, Carrie–simple and interesting. My daughter Joy Brown told me about how nice you have been in helping her look around Charleston for a place. I hope she can find something that works for her because we sure do like to visit. Maybe someday we’ll ask you to help us look around for a place on the water up there. And a note for Jeff–we love your oysters! We have a fondness for Apalach oysters but found those we had around Charleston to be fine quality. So keep those oyster recipes coming, Carrie!

My Mom is right Carrie. I truly appreciate your help & generosity and I look forward to lunch with you in The Village some day soon.
I am also looking forward to navigating your website more in the future as I use it as a tool to help me with my search for my first house!
Thanks bunches,
Joy
P.S. I am liking the recipe section too!
