So, we officially make the big switch tomorrow, and I must say it has been a very busy week.  We’ve been contacting all our clients, changing websites, business cards, yard signs, email accounts, voicemail messages, etc., etc.  While it has been extra work, it has also been a great opportunity to get in touch with all of my past clients and to reconnect.  I have actually enjoyed it.

I have heard throughout the community the misconception that this change is costing all of us agents a lot of money in terms of new marketing material.  While I appreciate the concern, I would like to clarify that this cost is all being absorbed by the company.  They are replacing all of our marketing materials, and then some, at no additional expense to us.  It’s actually quite nice to get all new business cards, and to replace the dinged and scratched signs with brand new ones.  So, while it is a lot of work, it is also fun and exciting, and I am very excited about the things to come.

Another thing I realized people don’t know: a lot of clients I have spoken with thought that only the Mt. Pleasant Coleman Blvd. office and the Isle of Palms office were going independent.  It is actually our WHOLE company, which is all of Prudential in the Charleston area.  We have around 1000 agents in 16 offices, in Isle of Palms, Clements Ferry area, 2 in Summerville, 3 in Mt. Pleasant, 2 in West Ashley, North Charleston, Kiawah/Seabrook, James Island, Folly Road, and Downtown Charleston, plus a relocation department, a New Homes Division, a training department, a marketing department, and a corporate office near the Ashley River.  So, we are all over, and you won’t see any Prudential signs in the forseeable future.  I’m sure that Prudential will try to get one of the smaller companies to take on the franchise, and perhaps they will.

The point is that we are still the leader, so even if there is a new Prudential, they will not be us.  When we had the Coldwell Banker franchise in the 90’s, we were the market leader then.  When we changed to Prudential at the end of the 90’s, we were still the leader as Prudential.  Another company took over the Coldwell Banker franchise, but they did not become number one.  Strength is in the people, not the name.
