Midtown is an exciting new Reavis-Comer development in Downtown Charleston, bordered by Cannon, Coming, and St. Philip Streets. It is a mix of single family homes and condos, and also includes two commercial spaces, anchoring the corner of Coming and Cannon, and the corner of St. Philip and Cannon.
Prices on remaining homes range from $557,500 to $719,000. The architecture is sleek and modern. It’s refreshingly different, while managing to blend well with the surrounding streetscape. Midtown boasts high end finishes, such as marble, limestone, or granite countertops, hardwood floors, stainless appliances (including a refrigerator), upscale lighting, glass vessel sinks in the powder rooms, luxurious master baths, smart wiring, surround sound wiring, and high, smooth ceilings. All homes are set up for a stackable washer and dryer. Each home has two A/C units for efficiency, and has been designed and evaluated by a waterproofing engineer. They are solidly built with a very high level of attention to detail. Plus, you have the added bonus of new construction, which means you can live downtown without the maintenance headaches that come with so many of the older homes, and all homes are under a 10 year Builder’s Warranty.
Midtown is in a rapidly changing area downtown, with many great new restaurants, such as Chai, Raval, and Basil, and boutiques populating King Street, just a block away. The terrific Five Loaves Cafe is just across the street. It has been proposed to turn Cannon and Spring Streets back into two way streets, to slow the flow of traffic and add to the residential feel. If approved, they will also give the streets a “face lift”, adding some landscaping and trees. These streets were originally two way, but were changed to one way in the 1950’s to speed traffic through town. There are also plans in the works for a development similar to Charleston Place, at King and Cannon. If you remember what Charleston Place did for that part of King Street, you will agree that this part of town is the next part that is going to boom. Midtown is a great place to live and to invest.
